Nepal Army starts “Janata Awas” rehabilitation program for storm survivors

Birgunj (Nepal), May 06 (ANI): Nepal Army flagged off the “Janata Awas” rehabilitation program for the storm survivors of southern Nepal’s district of Bara and Parsa. The cabinet meeting of incumbent government under Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli decided to deploy the Nepal Army to construct a total of 1,453 houses in Bara and Parsa district of southern Nepal. A total of 2,332 army personnel with expertise in construction, including engineers, are stationed in 12 different places of the storm-torn districts. The army started constructing houses for the people who were rendered homeless when a high-intensity storm hit both the districts in March this year. The Nepal Army has plans to complete the construction in three phases. Inaugurating the site, Defense Minister Pokharel directed the Nepal Army unit to complete construction work before the start of the monsoon season in the Himalayan nation. The federal government has provided Rs 846.87 million to NA for the construction of 1,453 houses in Bara and Parsa districts.
