Museum in Raipur offers insights into Sikh's cultural heritage

Raipur (Chhattisgarh): Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sikh Museum in Guru Nanak Nagar of Raipur city stands testimony to the centuries-old glorious history of Sikhs. Spread across 5,000 square feet, the museum has been built in honour of ninth Sikh Guru Tegh Bahadur. The museum aims to enlighten visitors about the ten Sikh gurus and the religion, which is the fifth largest organised religion. It principal aim is educate youth about rich culture and history of Sikhism. The museum contains a replica of the golden temple which is beautifully showcased inside a glass case. It also has a library where visitors can read books on Sikhism and about Sikh Gurus and a home theatre where they can comfortably sit and watch the history of religion through films. Along with this, museum has 73 portraits of Sikh gurus. Ever since its inauguration, earlier this month, visitors have flocked the place in large numbers and they call their visit educative and insightful.Such museums not just help in preserving the history but also provide an opportunity to youths who are overwhelmed by the flow of information, to educate themselves about the rich history of the religion.
