EAM Jaishankar meets Maldivian Counterpart Moosa Zameer in Male

Male (Maldives) August 09 (ANI): External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar, who is on an official visit to Maldives, arrived in Male on August 09. He was welcomed by his Maldivian Counterpart Moosa Zameer at Velana International Airport on his arrival. Later, Both Ministers inaugurated the completed projects under the High Impact Community Development Projects (HICDP) and witnessed the exchange of Memorandum of Understanding on areas for capacity building, commerce and trade. EAM Jaishankar will pay an official visit to the Maldives from August 09 to 11. The visit aims to strengthen the partnership between the two countries following strained ties with the island country. On June 09, this year, Maldivian President Mohamed Muizzu paid a visit to India for the swearing-in ceremony of the new Cabinet. EAM Jaishankar will focus on strengthening bilateral relationships and propelling India’s ‘Neighbourhood First policy’.
