Bangladesh Unrest: Oath ceremony of interim govt to be held today after Sheikh Hasina's ouster

New Delhi, August 08 (ANI): After weeks of deadly violence, killings on the streets, Bangladesh is set to establish a new interim Govt on August 8. The new Govt in violence-hit Bangladesh will be formed under the leadership of Nobel laureate Prof. Md Yunus. As per The Daily Star, Army Chief Gen Waker-Uz-Zaman said that the oath-taking ceremony is likely to be held at 8 pm. The Army Chief hinted that 15 members will take the oath in a ceremony attended by around 400 dignitaries. Gen Waker-Uz-Zaman expressed hope that normalcy would return within 3 to 4 days, as the situation across the country is improving significantly. Earlier, Prof. Md Yunus was appointed to the post by Bangladesh President Shahabuddin after a meeting with student leaders. Yunus, 84, and his Grameen Bank, a microcredit organization, won the 2006 Nobel Peace Prize for their work to lift millions out of poverty. After PM Hasina resigned, fled the country, her adversaries will see Yunus as the chief adviser to the interim govt.
