Trump's daughter-in-law will host a Fox News program, an unprecedented event
Feb 06, 2025
Washington [US], February 6: President Donald Trump's daughter-in-law, Lara Trump, was hired by Fox News to host a weekly television show, something that has never happened before for a member of the current US President's family.
Fox News has signed a deal with Lara Trump , former co-chair of the Republican National Committee (RNC) and daughter-in-law of US President Donald Trump, to host a program on the channel.
The new show, called "My View with Lara Trump," will premiere on February 22 and air every Saturday at 9 p.m. EST.
This is the first time a family member of a sitting US President has worked for a television station.
Fox News CEO Suzanne Scott said Lara Trump is "a gifted communicator."
"(She) knows how to connect with an audience, and as a successful entrepreneur and working mother, Lara's innate understanding of the American public and today's political landscape will be a compelling addition to our weekend programming," Scott said.
"I'm thrilled to be bringing my voice back to Fox News, speaking directly to the American people and highlighting what makes this country so great," said Lara Trump .
The 43-year-old woman is the wife of Eric Trump and worked for Fox News from 2021-2022.
According to AFP, her hiring as a host is evidence of the close relationship between President Donald Trump and the television channel he has favored for many years.
He has recruited from Fox News to fill out his presidential cabinet, choosing morning show host Pete Hegseth as defense secretary and Fox Business Network host Sean Duffy as transportation secretary.
Several members of Mr Trump's first term (2017-2021), including press secretary Kayleigh McEnany, now work for Fox.
Relatives of the president have held positions in media outlets, but never has a close family member hosted a television news program.
Jenna Bush Hager joined NBC News as a contributing reporter in 2009, but that was months after her father, former President George W. Bush, left office.
Former President Bill Clinton's daughter, Chelsea, worked at NBC News from 2011-2014, years after her father became president.
