France issues an entry ban against Osama bin Laden's son

Oct 09, 2024

Paris [France], October 9: France has imposed an entry ban on Omar bin Laden, son of the late al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden, citing national security concerns.
Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau confirmed the legality of the decision on Tuesday in a post on X. "The administrative ban ensures that [Omar bin Laden] will not be able to return to France for any reason whatsoever," he said. Omar bin Laden reportedly made comments on social media in 2023 on the anniversary of his father's death, that were interpreted as glorifying terrorism. His father Osama bin Laden, who was killed by US forces in Pakistan in 2011, is widely seen as the mastermind behind the September 11 terrorist attacks in the United States.
