Washington [US], December 24: Former US President Bill Clinton was hospitalized in Washington DC on December 23 after having a fever.
Bill Clinton's office said the former president had been admitted to Georgetown University Medical Center for testing and observation after developing a fever, adding that Clinton "remains in good spirits." NBC News quoted a source as saying that Clinton's health condition was not serious.
According to AFP, Bill Clinton (78 years old) has had a number of health problems in the years after leaving office. The former US president underwent quadruple bypass surgery in 2004 and had a heart surgery in 2010. In 2021, he was hospitalized for 6 days due to a blood infection.
The health condition is said to have prompted Mr. Clinton to change his lifestyle, including starting a vegetarian diet and often sharing his efforts. The last information about Mr. Clinton's health before his recent hospitalization was when he contracted Covid-19 .
Clinton has been active in supporting Vice President Kamala Harris's campaign this year. In August, Bill Clinton delivered a speech at the Democratic National Convention, extending a streak that began in 1976. "I don't know how many more events I can attend," he said at the time.
Former President Clinton recently released a memoir about his life after leaving the White House in 2001. Since then, he has devoted much of his time to diplomatic and humanitarian work. In the list of living former US presidents, Barack Obama is the youngest, followed by Clinton.
